How To Use
Place clamps on both sides of
one sheet of OPENCAST
Heat OPENCAST using the oven
to make OPENCAST moldable
(90 degrees Celsius for four minutes).
A. Do not heat OPENCAST for an extended period of time (4min recommended)
B. Do not use OPENCAST if the outer skin is damaged or cut.
C. Be careful of burns when taking OPENCAST out of the oven
D. Should OPENCAST be too hot, apply after wiping it with a wet towel.
Put on stockinet made into
adequate thickness and width
A. Fold stockinet into 3~4 layers with the width of 1~1.5cm. Apply 4 of these folded stockinet on the arm(leg).
B. Fold stockinet into 3~4 laters for the thumb and the hand in case of applying on the arm.
C. Fold stockinet into 2~3 layers with wide width for the upper arm(above the elbow) or the calf.
Connect the two moldable pieces of
OPENCAST using clamps
A. Pad facing downwards
Mold OPENCAST around the fracture
and close the clamps accordingly.
A. Pad facing the skin
B. Auxiliary pads must be placed at the sole of the foot and where the operating physician deems necessary.
Wrap the stretch wrap around OPENCAST finalizing the shape.
A. Use moderate force when wrapping the stretch wrap.
B. Maintain adequate amount of space between OPENCAST and the skin.
C. Make sure OPENCAST is not in pressured contact with the skin
D. Make sure
E. Check for any undesirable shapes and adjust OPENCAST if necessary.
Unwrap the stretch wrap.
A. Pull stockinet through one of the windows using a pincer and cut the stockinet using a pair of scissors. Remove the cut stockinet by pulling them out through the windows.
B. Check for any undesirable shapes or pointy edges.
C. Do not remove the auxiliary pad used on the top of the foot.
OPENCAST application complete
A. In the case of the foot, use auxiliary pads for the heel.
